"I recently became a client of Connie Mortensen State Farm during an active and disputed homeowners claim involving significant storm damage from the June 2023 derecho. Despite reaching out multiple times by email and phone over the past month regarding over $30,000 in outstanding disputed amounts, Connie Mortensen never once personally responded to a single email or returned a single phone call. Over the past three weeks alone I have spent upwards of 15 hours on the phone with State Farm — most of it on hold — fighting for a legitimate claim while my agent remained completely silent. Her office gave me incorrect information regarding insurance code requirements. I was transferred to an agency intern with no working phone number during an active disputed claim. I have now filed a formal complaint with the Indiana Department of Insurance — Complaint ID 118185 — naming both State Farm and this agency. I genuinely believe in what insurance is supposed to do for people at their greatest time of need — to be there when everything goes wrong. Unfortunately this agency failed to demonstrate that principle when it mattered most."

"Dear Brian, We are sorry to hear about your frustration regarding your claim and appreciate you taking time to share your perspectives while we must respect your policy privacy and cannot address every detail publicly, we want to clarify a few important points. Our Office Manager spoke with you on multiple occasions over the past two weeks. Unfortunately, due to the aggressive nature of some interactions, we had to end one of the phone calls for the safety and well-being of our staff. We appreciate your apology for that conduct. At that time, we informed you that further communication would need to be directed to the claims department, as your claim was being handled there. You did connect with a claims manager and had discussions directly with them. At this stage, there is no additional assistance the agent’s local office can provide regarding your claim. Regarding the information you received, we did not provide any incorrect details; your policy was not transferred to our office until 2025, after the claim in 2023 was reported that year. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the transition and the previous agent’s inability to assist. Additionally, the communication you received about a new agent refers to a fully licensed State Farm agent who will be taking over effective May 1, 2026, following the retirement of your initial agent. This new agent is not an intern, but a qualified professional ready to assist clients. We understand how important it is to feel supported during difficult times, and we genuinely regret that your experience has not met your expectations. If you have further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out directly to the claims department or to our corporate office.
